Booker T Says He Was Originally Supposed To Team With Bad Bunny At WrestleMania

Booker T has revealed that Bad Bunny’s WrestleMania debut could have featured a different tag team partner, with the WWE Hall of Famer saying he was originally supposed to take the spot that went to Damian Priest.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast alongside Brad Gilmore, Booker was asked why he had never faced Bad Bunny in the ring. He explained that teaming with the music star had once been a possibility.

“I had no desire to wrestle against Bad Bunny,” Booker said. “I almost did a tag match with Bad Bunny. It was actually supposed to be me and Bad Bunny, as opposed to Damian Priest and Bad Bunny.”

Booker kept the reason behind the change private.

“Certain reasons why. I’m not gonna disclose.”

When Gilmore asked whether he had strongly considered taking part, Booker replied: “Not strongly enough.”

Although the match never happened, Booker spoke warmly about the connection he shares with Bad Bunny, who named a song after him.

“That was a kid who watched me when he was growing up, and I made him feel a certain way, to the point where he wrote a song about me and won a Grammy with that song, and I appreciate that,” he said.

The pair appeared together at the 2021 Royal Rumble, where Bad Bunny performed “Booker T” with the wrestling legend by his side. Bad Bunny also got physical with The Miz and John Morrison that night, helping set up his eventual WrestleMania appearance. The song later won Best Rap/Hip Hop Song at the Latin Grammy Awards.

Booker’s latest comments offer a different perspective from his public remarks in February 2021. At the time, he described speculation about his involvement as “100% a rumor” and said he had not been approached about wrestling on the show.

“No one has talked to me about it as far as having a match at WrestleMania,” he said.

He also backed Priest as the right choice to receive the opportunity.

“I’d rather see Damian Priest get that rub. He’s the guy that’s on television right now.”

Priest ultimately teamed with Bad Bunny to defeat The Miz and John Morrison on the opening night of WrestleMania 37, held on April 10, 2021, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
