Eric Bischoff believes Steven Borden needs more time to develop before competing on AEW television, following the injury Stingâs son suffered at All Out.
Borden was hurt during the September pay-per-view when a planned mid-air collision with Kevin Knight went wrong. Medical personnel assessed him shortly afterwards.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff questioned whether Borden had enough experience to attempt the spot. He also criticised the veterans around him for allowing it to happen.
âHeâs [Steve Borden] green, he should never [have done that spot]. Who let him do that spot? Of all of these so-called veterans and guys who should know better, that are collecting a paycheckâŚwhy didnât somebody say, âThatâs not really the right thing for this kid to be doing at this stage of his careerâ? He actually shouldnât even be wrestling on TV yet. Heâs a deer in the headlights. You have to learn, you have to gain experience, you have to develop the confidence, not just memorise what you do in the ring.
âYou need the reps and the confidence, so that when you do put yourself into a position, where your safety is at risk or your opponentâs safety is at risk, that youâre a hundred percent confident, because youâve done it thousands of times. This kid shouldnât even be in a main event on television.â
The former WCW president has previously questioned Bordenâs role in AEW. His latest comments focused on the importance of gaining experience and building confidence before attempting moves that could put either wrestler at risk.
