John Cena Explains Key Difference Between Triple H And Vince McMahon’s WWE Booking

John Cena believes Triple H’s willingness to listen to WWE fans could give LA Knight a fighting chance against Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Cena was asked whether Knight could leave this weekend’s event as World Heavyweight Champion. While he sees Reigns as the clear favourite, Cena suggested WWE’s approach under Paul “Triple H” Levesque leaves room for an unexpected result.

Cena explained that Vince McMahon tended to stick firmly to his chosen direction, while Levesque appears more willing to respond to the audience and embrace a moment when it presents itself.

“I will say: now more than ever, I feel, just my perspective, the business is reactive to the audience, and reactive to zeitgeist moments in our audience. Vince was so steadfast in his direction, and that was very important to him and that’s how he ran things at the helm. And I respect that.

“I also respect Paul’s open mind, open ears, and open eyes. And I think, even though the math is heavily in Roman’s corner, I also think, if there was ever a moment that in the last minute before everybody went out of during the match, ‘Hey, we’re going to switch the decision we made back there,’ I think it would be a situation like it is now. But I’m with you, I think the math is heavily in Roman’s corner.”

His comments were speculation about what could happen, rather than an indication that WWE plans to change the result.

Cena also had warm words for both men. He described Reigns as one of the greatest of all time and said his conversations with Knight had left him with considerable respect for the challenger.

Money in the Bank takes place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Saturday, October 10. The event will air live on ESPN in the United States and Netflix internationally, beginning at 6 p.m. Eastern time.

Reigns defending against Knight is part of a five-match card that also features the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches.

WWE’s remaining events for 2026 include Night of Champions, Survivor Series: WarGames, Wrestlepalooza and the John Cena Classic.

Could this be LA Knight’s moment, or will Roman Reigns retain his championship? Share your predictions in the comments.
