Asuka has reassured fans that she remains with WWE after questions surfaced about her future with the company.
The Empress of Tomorrow responded on Friday to a fan who asked whether she had left WWE or was simply taking a break. Her answer was clear:
“I haven’t left the company. I haven’t quit.”
Asuka has not competed since losing to IYO SKY at WWE Backlash in May. Following that match, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that he had been told she was “semi-retired.”
However, Asuka had already made it clear that her time with WWE was continuing, even if fans would be seeing less of her.
Speaking on her KanaChanTV YouTube vlog two weeks after Backlash, she confirmed she was still with the company and left the door open for a surprise appearance.
“But don’t forget – I am still officially with WWE. So there’s a chance I might just pop up in front of you when you least expect it!”
Since joining WWE in 2015, Asuka has built an impressive championship record. She has held the WWE Women’s Championship three times, alongside one reign each as SmackDown Women’s Champion and NXT Women’s Champion.
She is also a five-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, winning the titles three times with Kairi Sane and once each with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.
Her latest message offers fans reassurance about her status, although she has not announced when she will wrestle again.
