Trick Williams and Baron Corbin will take their United States Championship rivalry inside a steel cage on this Friday’s WWE SmackDown.

Williams will defend the gold against Corbin in the latest chapter of a feud that has featured title changes, ringside attacks and repeated involvement from Lil Yachty.

The rivalry began when Corbin returned to WWE on July 10, interrupting a match between Williams and Carmelo Hayes and delivering End of Days to both men. It marked his first WWE appearance since his release in late 2024.

Corbin went on to capture the United States Championship from Williams on the second night of SummerSlam. During the match, he sent Yachty through a ringside table before using Williams’ custom championship belt as a weapon while the referee was distracted. An End of Days secured the victory.

Another belt shot helped Corbin retain against Williams in their SmackDown rematch, keeping tensions high between the rivals.

Williams eventually regained the championship at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6. Yachty had secured that opportunity by lasting five minutes against Corbin, earning Williams another title match that same evening.

Now in his second reign, Williams faces another showdown with the man who ended his first. The steel cage is intended to limit the outside involvement that has played such a big part in their rivalry.

Friday’s episode will also feature two triple threat matches to determine more entrants in this year’s Money in the Bank ladder matches.

Finn Balor, CM Punk and Gunther will compete for a place in the men’s match, while Giulia, Charlotte Flair and Lash Legend will battle for a spot in the women’s contest.

Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn is expected to appear following his first successful title defence, although WWE has yet to announce a specific segment. Bakusai is also expected to respond to WWE Tag Team Champions MFT.

Money in the Bank takes place on October 10 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. Roman Reigns is already scheduled to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight at the event.
