Tony Khan Shares The Butcher’s Ideas For An AEW Office Role

Tony Khan has shared the ideas Andy “The Butcher” Williams hoped to bring to AEW behind the scenes before his passing.

Speaking during Thursday’s AEW All Out media call, Khan revealed that Williams met with company officials last month to discuss a possible office role. Among his ideas was bringing music events together with AEW shows to introduce more music fans to wrestling.

“Andy was very interested in working in the office, and he had really good ideas. So I had set up a meeting with Andy and the AEW officials last month to talk about his thoughts on ways he could contribute to promoting. And Andy had ideas that he could do music shows in collaboration with AEW and build some events outside of the wrestling show that would get eyeballs on the wrestling show and maybe bring some people from the music community into wrestling. That is one of his ideas. He had a number of good ideas, including that.”

Khan confirmed that those conversations were still ongoing when Williams passed away. He had previously revealed that Williams was interested in contributing to AEW outside the ring, with these latest comments offering a closer look at what he hoped to do.

Reflecting on the loss, Khan said Williams’s death had been “very hard” on many people within AEW.

He also spoke about the tribute show held in Williams’s honour, explaining that he wanted it to be “befitting his stature”. Khan said he was proud of how the show came together to remember him.
