Romeo Malverde, formerly known as Santos Escobar in WWE and King Cuerno in Lucha Underground, has released his new entrance theme, “CODIGO”.

The track debuted on TMZ’s Inside The Ring with Branson Quirke and Roger Corral and is available now on all streaming platforms, according to an announcement supplied to WNS.

Written by John Kiernan, Zaheer and Blass 89, the reggaeton track draws on Malverde’s journey inside and outside wrestling as he prepares for the next chapter of his career.

Speaking on Inside The Ring, Malverde explained how the music captures the identity behind his new name.

“The song is beautiful, the character is well thought. The first bars is me: ‘My body may fall, my code never will, vaya con dios’. That’s the combination of what Romeo Malverde is.

“If you listen to the lyrics: ‘Romeo Malverde, su raza, su gente’ that’s my people, mi gente. Who do I represent? ‘Rose from the grave. Told death not today.’ Those are things that define me. Think of Robin Hood. Think of a well rounded badass. That’s Romeo Malverde.”

Kiernan, an entrance theme composer and host of Ropes N Riffs, revealed that the collaboration began when he reached out to Malverde following his WWE departure.

“When Romeo was released from WWE, I sent him a message about working together on an entrance theme for whatever comes next. He's been one of my favorites throughout the years from Lucha Underground to WWE and more. To be able to create a body of work with the unbelievable Zaheer and Blass 89, who you definitely know from many of your favorite themes, has been such a great experience and we all hope to hear you loud and proud when Romeo hits the ring.”

For fellow composer Zaheer, the project was an opportunity to help bring Malverde’s vision to life while contributing to a career he clearly respects.

“Being able to be involved with the vision of the music, being asked by John to help and being able to do it for someone who has such a storied career…it’s an honor to be trusted, I’m grateful to be entrusted by Romeo and the gang. I’m grateful to be part of it. This song absolutely slaps, if I do say so myself.”
