AEW came together to remember Andy “The Butcher” Williams on Saturday’s Collision, with his longtime tag team partner The Blade sharing a heartfelt message about their friendship.
The show in Springfield, Massachusetts, was dedicated to Williams, with wrestlers and personalities sharing memories of the man behind The Butcher.
Tony Schiavone read a statement from The Blade, who paid tribute to both his partner’s talent and the friendship they shared.
“Andy was the most talented person that I ever met. But I think we all can agree that he was an even better friend,” his statement read.
“Andy loved pro wrestling. Andy loved the fans. Thank you to everybody for the support and thank you to everybody in AEW for tonight’s event honoring Andy Williams. We love you Andy.”
Williams died aged 48 the previous weekend after collapsing during an independent wrestling match in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His passing prompted tributes from across the wrestling community, with friends and colleagues remembering him on social media.
AEW also honoured Williams during Wednesday’s show, when the company announced that Saturday’s Collision would be dedicated to his memory.
Throughout the broadcast, those who worked alongside Williams had the opportunity to reflect on his life and share what he meant to them.

"He's the first person you want to call any time you had a success, any time you had a win in life. But he was also the kind of person that when you have a loss in life, he was the first person you wanted to tell it to."
