Damian Priest Turns On R-Truth After Title Match On WWE SmackDown

Damian Priest turned on R-Truth during the September 11 episode of WWE SmackDown, bringing their six-month partnership to a brutal end.

The former WWE Tag Team Champions challenged the War Raiders for the AAA Tag Team titles in Mexico City. After Truth took the loss, Priest initially appeared to offer his partner some encouragement.

That support quickly gave way to an attack. As the pair acknowledged the crowd, Priest flattened Truth with a clothesline before delivering a South of Heaven chokeslam, confirming his heel turn.

The betrayal had been teased three weeks earlier when Priest and Truth failed to regain the WWE Tag Team titles from The MFTs. Priest appeared to consider attacking his partner that night but ultimately held back.

This time, another unsuccessful title challenge proved to be the breaking point.

Priest and Truth held the WWE Tag Team titles from March until August. Their partnership is now over, leaving the door open for a rivalry between the former champions or a fresh singles direction for Priest.
