AEW Pays Tribute To Andy Williams Following The Butcher’s Passing

AEW has paid tribute to Andy Williams, known to wrestling fans as The Butcher, following reports of his death after a medical emergency at Saturday night’s Enjoy Wrestling event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Williams reportedly suffered the emergency following a tag team match. His passing has prompted heartfelt tributes from colleagues, who remembered his kindness, his love for those around him and his achievements in wrestling and music.

In an official statement, AEW offered its condolences and recognised his impact across both industries.

“All Elite Wrestling is saddened to learn of the passing of Andy Williams, aka The Butcher. A trailblazing musician with ETID and Atomic Rule, Williams made a successful transition into the world of professional wrestling and was incredibly respected by his peers both in and out of the ring. Our condolences go out to Williams’ family, friends and fans.”

Kyle Fletcher shared a personal memory of a locker room conversation with Williams about finding happiness and self-worth beyond wrestling.

“My heart is so heavy hearing about Andy this morning. It is made slightly lighter hearing all the stories and how much love there is for him in the world. One distinct memory I have is being in the locker room at an AEW show with him, I was talking about how my self image was very much tied to my wrestling career and how what was happening in wrestling would affect how I viewed myself personally. We had a lovely conversation about how important it is to have a life outside of our careers, spoke about how much he loved his fiancée, the importance of being a good person whatever that means to you and how he found self love. I aspire to be as cool as Andy Williams. May he live forever in our minds and hearts. Rest in peace friend 💕.”

Josh Alexander also remembered the warmth Williams brought to their conversations and his ability to lift the spirits of those around him.

“Andy Williams was a musician and wrestler. He was one of the best people I ever met. Everytime we spoke I left the conversation better for it. I’ll remember Andy for what he was. A dude with an enormous heart that could always put a smile on my face. Rest in Peace brother.”

Sammy Guevara reflected on the kindness Williams always showed him and Tay, despite his intimidating appearance in the ring.

“For a man his size, with all the tattoos, you’d assume he’d be this monster. But in reality, Andy Williams was always such a kind person to Tay and me anytime we saw him.”
