Chelsea Green has officially been cleared to return to the ring following the orbital fracture she suffered on the August 7 episode of WWE SmackDown.

The WWE Women’s Champion received the welcome news during the September 4 edition of SmackDown in Cleveland, although her return comes with an important condition.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis entered the ring alongside Dr. Woodruff before inviting Green out to receive the update. Green made it clear that she was not looking for sympathy and remained determined to continue representing the division as a fighting champion.

Despite acknowledging the target that comes with holding the championship, Green said her focus was firmly on protecting her legacy.

Aldis explained that while he remained concerned about her safety, the final decision belonged to WWE’s medical team.

Dr. Woodruff confirmed that Green’s fractured orbital bone was healing well enough for her to compete. However, she must wear a protective face mask whenever she steps inside the ring.

The celebration did not last long, as Nia Jax interrupted alongside Lash Legend and demanded an opportunity at the WWE Women’s Championship. Jax also warned Green that she was prepared to cause further damage if the champion refused to face her.

Tiffany Stratton then rushed to the ring and helped Green avoid being overwhelmed by Jax and Legend.

Aldis responded by making the championship match official, confirming that Green will defend her title against Jax on next week’s SmackDown from Mexico City.

Stratton faced Jax later in the show, but interference from Legend helped Jax secure the victory.

Following the match, Jax confronted Green and removed her protective mask. An angry Green entered the ring to stand up to Jax and Legend, although the tense encounter did not become physical.

Green may have received the medical clearance she wanted, but she now faces an imposing first test against Jax with her championship and physical wellbeing at stake.
