RevPro Promoter Explains Why Leon Slater Match Was Missing From MyAEW

Fans watching Revolution Pro Wrestling’s 14-Year Anniversary show on Saturday through MyAEW may have noticed one match was missing from the broadcast, with Leon Slater vs. Liam Slater not being shown on the platform.

The decision quickly led to speculation among wrestling fans, particularly because Leon Slater is the reigning TNA X-Division Champion. Some suggested TNA Wrestling or Carlos Silva may have requested that the match not appear on MyAEW, given previous situations involving TNA talent being pulled from matches featuring AEW wrestlers.

However, RevPro promoter Andy Quildan has clarified that this was not the case.

According to Dave Meltzer, Quildan personally made the decision not to include Leon Slater vs. Liam Slater on the MyAEW broadcast in an effort to avoid any potential issues because a TNA-contracted wrestler was involved.

The match was still shown as part of RevPro’s own stream, and fans who missed it will soon have another opportunity to watch it, with plans for the bout to be uploaded to YouTube.

Meltzer explained in the Wrestling Observer Daily Update:

“Andy Quildan noted to us that the Leon Slater vs. Liam Slater match will be put up on YouTube soon from yesterday’s RevPro show. There were no direct instructions not to air the match on MyAEW but to avoid problems since it involved a TNA wrestler, he made the call not to put it on MyAEW. It did air on the RevPro stream. but to make it up for those who purchased the PPV from RevPro, they are putting it up.”

The clarification should put an end to suggestions that TNA directly ordered the match to be removed from the MyAEW broadcast. Instead, Quildan appears to have made the call himself as a precaution.

Leon Slater continues to represent TNA as its reigning X-Division Champion while also appearing on wrestling events outside the promotion.
