Ric Flair Issues Warning To People Selling His Famous Robes

Ric Flair has issued a strong warning over the alleged sale of some of his famous wrestling robes, with the WWE Hall of Famer saying his attorney is prepared to take legal action.

Flair addressed the situation on X on Sunday after what he described as a "phenomenal weekend" in Philadelphia. The Nature Boy claimed he had recently become aware of people attempting to sell robes associated with his legendary career without being able to prove they legally own them.

Flair made it clear that he has no issue with legitimate owners selling his memorabilia. However, he said anyone unable to provide a receipt or other documentation proving ownership could soon hear from his lawyer.

Flair wrote:

“It was a phenomenal weekend in Philadelphia, and thank you very much to @DynastySportsPA and Steve Solomon. Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that my robes are being sold by people who don’t own them or have a receipt from me. If they do, they are more than welcome to. If they don’t, just like Tiffany VanDemark, who stole five of them, as of tomorrow, my attorney will seek legal documentation and if you don’t have it, you will be expecting a letter from my attorney in Boston. I can’t imagine why anybody would steal anything that i worked so hard for. Not cool and i’m coming for you. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as i get older, i understand the importance of having some of my memorabilia. @bigeventny”

The comments attracted plenty of attention from wrestling fans, including one person who joked that Flair should not "go OJ trying to get your stuff back."

The comment referenced O.J. Simpson's 2007 Las Vegas robbery case, which involved memorabilia Simpson said had previously been stolen from him. Simpson was later convicted and served nine years in prison before being granted parole.

Flair responded to the reactions with another colourful post, joking about the value of his robes while once again making clear that he considers the matter serious.

He wrote:

“After reading your comments, I am very humored. So I have a new saying, my robes are worth more than your house! Rather than my shoes, it’s now my robes. And FYI- it’s a felony and that shouldn’t be taken lightly. And also, I am a long ways away from OJ. I haven’t even started drinking yet, so get ready for the next couple hours. I’ve been fighting with American Airlines just trying to get back to Tampa. On the way to the bar as i post this! You know where to find me, come join me, and if you have one of my robes bring it with you! I will buy all of your drinks. WOOOOO!”

Flair's elaborate robes became one of the defining parts of his presentation during his legendary wrestling career, making authentic pieces highly desirable among collectors.

Now, Flair appears determined to establish exactly where some of those robes have ended up and whether the people attempting to sell them can prove they legitimately own them.
