MVP Reveals How Long His Current AEW Contract Runs

MVP has opened up about the long-term future of his career, revealing just how long his current AEW contract could keep him with the company.

In late 2025, MVP confirmed that he had signed a long-term contract extension with All Elite Wrestling, continuing his run as part of The Hurt Syndicate alongside Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.

Speaking on an episode of Marking Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze, the 52-year-old revealed that his current AEW deal takes him through to the age of 57.

While MVP understands that his days as a regular in-ring performer are coming to an end, he made it clear that wrestling remains only one part of his life and that he is comfortable moving into different roles as his career develops.

“MVP is my job. It’s not my existence. So, I don’t have a problem walking away from MVP, because I’ll always be MVP. I’ll always be that MVP. ‘Oh man, I watched you when I was a kid.’ ‘Hey, thanks, man.’ But I don’t need that validation. The money? Yeah, of course. But even then, at 52, I’m not making the same money that I was when I was 35. I’m still making a lot of money. But now, I have a different role now, and I’m very comfortable with the role… currently, my contract takes me through 57, and I could be a manager, a mouthpiece, consultant, contributor in other ways for a long time, and I probably wouldn’t mind doing that.”

That would potentially keep MVP with AEW for another five years, with his future likely to increasingly focus on his work as a manager, spokesperson and behind-the-scenes contributor.

MVP also addressed his future as an active wrestler and admitted that his final match is now getting closer.

“Let’s be real, I’m 52, and I don’t wanna sprint back-and-forth across the ring and I don’t wanna get powerbombed and chokeslammed at this stage. I don’t wanna do that, and I don’t take bookings for matches anymore. I’m not officially retired, but that’s coming. I’m thinking probably next year… I will have my final match. I’m pretty confident that my final match is coming soon. But even then, on these last few shows or whatever that I have, taking an independent booking, people ain’t looking for MVP to go out there and put on a 20-minute, five-star Meltzer match. They wanna see MVP come out, do some swag, do the Ballin’ elbow. They wanna see the hits.”

Although he has not officially retired, MVP believes his final match could take place in 2027. Until then, he appears happy to make occasional appearances while concentrating on his role with The Hurt Syndicate.

The Hurt Syndicate were represented at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium on August 30, with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin competing on the show. MVP was unable to attend the event due to a visa issue.

With his AEW contract taking him through to 57, MVP may be approaching the end of his wrestling career, but his time in the business appears far from finished.
