Grayson Waller Steals NXT Championship In Wild Fatal Four-Way At Heatwave

Grayson Waller has pulled off a stunning championship victory at WWE NXT Heatwave, leaving Texas as the new NXT Champion after defeating Tony D'Angelo, Zilla Fatu and Cruz Montana in a chaotic Fatal Four-Way match.

The championship showdown also marked the NXT in-ring debut of Zilla Fatu, the son of the late Umaga. Fatu received a huge welcome from the Texas crowd and wasted little time making an impression, showing a combination of power and surprising agility as he battled three of NXT's biggest names.

Waller caused trouble before the match had even properly settled down, attacking defending champion D'Angelo and looking for any opportunity to steal an advantage. Montana and Fatu quickly joined the fight, turning the contest into the unpredictable battle expected from a four-way championship match.

Fatu produced several standout moments, including a spectacular dive to the outside before later going chop-for-chop with Montana. He also had an intense confrontation with D'Angelo, with the two repeatedly charging into each other before the champion finally changed tactics and caught Fatu with a Cutter.

D'Angelo then began throwing his challengers around the ring with Belly-to-Belly Suplexes, including a huge version from the top turnbuckle that sent Waller crashing back into the ring.

The action continued to escalate as all four men searched for the championship-winning moment. Fatu came incredibly close after dropping D'Angelo with a Samoan Drop and connecting with the Samoan Spike.

Fatu appeared to have the championship won, but Waller dragged the referee out of the ring before the three-count could be completed. With no disqualifications in the Fatal Four-Way, there was nothing the official could do about Waller's interference.

The Texas crowd made its feelings clear as Fatu chased Waller outside and began unloading on him near the commentary area.

Things became even more spectacular when the fight moved towards the announce table. D'Angelo wiped out Fatu and Waller with a Spear before Montana attempted to take advantage of the carnage.

Waller eventually found himself alone inside the ring while his three opponents were gathered around the commentary desk. Seeing his opportunity, Waller climbed the turnbuckles and launched himself onto everyone below, sending bodies crashing through the table.

Despite the destruction, the championship remained up for grabs.

Montana appeared to have found his moment when he connected with Spin The Block on D'Angelo. However, before he could capitalize, Waller suddenly returned to the ring and threw Montana outside.

Waller then covered the fallen D'Angelo and secured the three-count, stealing the victory and becoming the new NXT Champion after 23 minutes of action.

The result brings Tony D'Angelo's championship reign to an end, while Waller leaves Heatwave with NXT's biggest prize after taking advantage at exactly the right moment.

Zilla Fatu may not have captured the championship in his first NXT match, but his performance and the reaction from the crowd ensured his debut was one of the major talking points coming out of Heatwave.
