Mercedes Martinez Announces End of Wrestling Career After Torn ACL

Mercedes Martinez has confirmed that her full-time wrestling career has come to an earlier end than she had hoped after suffering a torn ACL.

The former WWE and AEW star announced at the end of 2025 that 2026 would be her final year as a full-time professional wrestler, with Martinez planning to use the year as a farewell tour before stepping away from regular competition.

Sadly, that journey has now been cut short.

In an emotional video shared on X, Martinez revealed she injured her knee around two weeks ago. After seeing two doctors and undergoing an MRI, she was diagnosed with a torn ACL.

“I want to make this video because I didn’t want to write something. It was hard to put into words, so I think it’s just easier if it can come from the heart and let you guys know.

“So we are just about 3/4 of the way into this last run tour, and about two weeks ago I injured my knee. Two doctors later, an MRI later, the prognosis is torn ACL.

“For most it’s probably not a career-ending injury, but for me it is. So I humbly and am heartbroken to even say this but that’s the end of my wrestling career.

“This was the year, as everyone knows, that it was going to be my last year full-time, meaning that I wasn’t going to wrestle every weekend, not even once a month, maybe special occasions after this year. I wanted to give back to women’s wrestling. I wanted to do this my way and give 110% and give my body to wrestling.

“And I did just that.”

Martinez's career has spanned more than two decades, with the respected veteran competing across WWE, AEW, ROH and numerous independent promotions.

While she had hoped to finish her final full-time run on her own terms, Martinez made clear that she leaves knowing she gave everything she had to professional wrestling.

WNS wishes Mercedes Martinez all the very best in her recovery and whatever comes next.
