Drew McIntyre may be back in the United States, but fans hoping to see him return to WWE television could be waiting a while longer.

According to PWInsider, McIntyre has returned to the US after working on the Highlander reboot and The Last Druid, projects involving Russell Crowe and Henry Cavill.

Despite being back, there are reportedly no active creative discussions about bringing McIntyre back to WWE television at this stage.

That does not mean he has stepped away from WWE completely. McIntyre is involved in other major projects connected to the company, including WWE's live-action microdramas with ReelShort, which also feature Jacob Fatu and Joe Hendry.

During his time away, McIntyre has remained active on social media and regularly shown that he is keeping himself in strong physical condition.

His last WWE match came at WrestleMania 42, where he faced Jacob Fatu in an unsanctioned match.

McIntyre also enjoyed another run at the top of WWE earlier this year, defeating Cody Rhodes to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship. His reign proved short-lived, however, following Fatu's return and interference during a title match on SmackDown in January.

For now, there appears to be no firm timetable for the Scottish star's return to WWE television.
