Jeff Jarrett Reveals the Advice He Wishes He Could Give His Younger Self

AEW star and wrestling veteran Jeff Jarrett has reflected on the highs and lows that have shaped his life, revealing the message he wishes he could pass on to his younger self.

Jarrett's career has stretched across several decades, but his journey outside the ring has included considerable personal challenges. He lost his first wife, Jill, to breast cancer, experienced the turbulent rise and eventual departure from TNA Wrestling, battled alcohol addiction and later built a new life with his wife, Karen Jarrett.

Much of Jarrett's history with TNA was recently revisited during a three-part special that opened the latest season of "Dark Side of the Ring," putting another spotlight on one of the most eventful periods of his career.

Speaking on a recent episode of his "My World" podcast with Conrad Thompson, Jarrett recalled being asked during an interview what advice he would give to a younger version of himself. The question has apparently remained on his mind ever since.

"It kind of keeps ringing through my brain. Like, 'Okay. Where did all that come from?'" Jarrett said. "But I think just the sum total of my life experiencing being my dad being a mentor, but also a dad. Also, me in recovery, but one thing that 50-year-old Jeff would tell 18-year-old Jeff is, 'Hey, embrace love. Relish the valleys of life, because they are the ones that create the mountaintops."

For Jarrett, those words appear to carry considerably more weight after everything he has experienced personally and professionally. His wrestling career has included major successes with WWE, WCW and TNA, alongside periods of uncertainty and significant changes away from the spotlight.

Now 59, Jarrett's in-ring appearances have become much less frequent. His most recent match came ahead of AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam Mexico, where he competed in a dark match alongside Brillante Jr., Mascara Dorada, Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong.

Jarrett has also wrestled twice for 1 Fall Wrestling during 2026. His AEW responsibilities these days are largely outside the ring, with the Hall of Famer regularly appearing as an analyst during Zero Hour coverage ahead of the company's pay-per-view events alongside Renee Paquette and RJ City.

After more than three decades in the wrestling business, Jarrett's latest comments show that some of his biggest lessons have come not from championship victories or major wrestling moments, but from navigating the difficult periods in between.
