Matt Cardona has revealed that he suffered a torn tricep during a match held ahead of the August 21, 2026 edition of WWE SmackDown.
Cardona confirmed the injury on social media after sharing a photo showing significant swelling in his arm. Despite the setback, the WWE star made it clear that he remains determined to work his way back.
“I wish my arm was this jacked. Unfortunately, it’s just swollen because I tore my tricep in a match on Friday night. (I still went to the gym today and did legs) I’ll keep you updated. I’M NOT FINISHED.”
Cardona did not provide further details regarding the severity of the tear or whether surgery will be required. His comments suggest more information should become available once the injury has been fully assessed.
The recovery period for a torn tricep can vary considerably depending on the extent of the damage. The Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute notes that “a partial tear may heal in a few weeks with conservative treatment, while a complete tear requiring surgery can take several months to regain full function.”
For now, there is no confirmed timetable for Cardona's return to WWE competition.
The injury comes shortly after Cardona returned to WWE television and became involved in Chelsea Green's ongoing storyline on SmackDown, making the timing particularly unfortunate as he looked set for a more prominent role.
