The ongoing issues between Paige and Nikki Bella have continued to build, but there is one major ingredient still missing from their WWE storyline: an actual face-to-face confrontation.
It appears Paige is just as eager for that moment as the fans.
On August 23, a fan took to social media to express their frustration over WWE keeping the two women apart. Using the famous "It's been 84 years" scene from Titanic, the fan joked about tuning in each week expecting Paige and Bella to finally share the ring.
“Me every week, hoping Nikki and Paige will finally be in the same ring for a face to face”
Paige responded to the post with a very short message that suggested those involved in the storyline are also waiting for WWE to pull the trigger.
“Us too.”
While only two words, Paige's response has added another interesting wrinkle to a rivalry that has largely developed without the two women being brought together on WWE television.
Paige and Nikki have exchanged words and continued pushing their issues with one another, particularly through social media. However, WWE has yet to deliver the direct confrontation many fans expected following SummerSlam.
The situation became even more noticeable earlier this month when a Paige promo directed at Nikki was originally planned for the August 14 edition of SmackDown. The segment was ultimately removed from the broadcast due to what were described as "logistical reasons."
WWE later released the finished segment online, allowing fans to see another chapter in the rivalry that did not make it onto SmackDown itself.
Nikki has also acknowledged the unusual way the storyline has been progressing. During The Nikki & Brie Show, she revealed she already has ideas about how they could continue developing the feud online should their television material continue to be removed.
“You know what? At this point, I have so many ideas. If it just turns into an online story, why not? I almost, it almost would be great to just keep getting cut and making this, like, an online thing with Paige because we do have so much equity and star power.”
That approach could keep the rivalry moving, but the biggest moment remains the one WWE has yet to book. After weeks of verbal exchanges, online developments and anticipation, Paige and Nikki still have not stood across the ring from one another for a proper confrontation.
Paige's latest reaction makes it clear fans are not alone in wondering when that moment will finally arrive.
