Johnny Gargano’s absence from WWE television has sparked questions about his status with the company, but a new report indicates he remains part of the roster.

Gargano has not wrestled since the April 17, 2026 episode of WWE SmackDown, where he entered the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. With more than four months passing without another match, some fans recently began wondering whether something had changed behind the scenes.

That speculation picked up after fans noticed Gargano does not list WWE in his Twitter/X biography. However, False Finish has pushed back on the idea that this signals a departure, noting that Gargano has apparently left WWE out of his bio for quite some time.

“Johnny Gargano hasn’t had WWE listed in his bio for years. Gargano is still on the internal WWE roster.”

While that would appear to settle questions surrounding his contractual status for now, former WWE creative team member “Road Dogg” Brian James added another layer to the discussion with a cryptic Facebook post.

James referenced Gargano’s long-standing association with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, dating back to Gargano’s highly successful run in NXT.

“Johnny was a Hunter [Triple H] guy. But I was too. The times they are a changing. Time marches on!”

James did not elaborate on what he meant, leaving his comments open to interpretation.

For now, there is no indication that Gargano has left WWE, with the latest report stating that his name remains on the company’s internal roster. The bigger question is when, and in what capacity, fans might see him back inside a WWE ring.
