Austin Aries: Alberto El Patron's Departure From Impact Wrestling Is Unfortunate

Reigning Impact World Champion Austin Aries has said it is unfortunate, that Alberto El Patron has been fired, following no-showing a crossover event between iMPACT! and Lucha Underground.

El Patron was supposed to team with Lucha Underground star Pentagon Jr against Aries and Rey Fenix, which later was changed to be a triple threat match.

In a media call, Aries said how despite El Patron no-showing, the three remaining wrestlers were able to have a great match.

He said: "It’s unfortunate but we’re moving on. All things being equal, I thought the matchup I ended up having at the joint show ended up being more challenging and more exciting."

Aries also said how he did not realise El Patron would skip the event until partway through the show.

" I wasn’t overly concerned, but as the event was going I did inquire if anybody had seen him or where his location was, and that’s when we realized that he hadn’t arrived yet."

This is the latest controversy in El Patron's career, as he no-showed a WCPW event last year, one day after winning a championship for Qatar Pro Wrestling.

El Patron was supposed to face Aries for the iMPACT! World Championship at their 'Redemption' Pay Per View. This has now been changed to a triple-threat World Title match between Aries, Pentagon Jr and Fenix.
