MONDAY NIGHT RAW - MAY 2, 2016

Video: Hightlights from last night's WWE Payback PPV

Welcome to Monday Night Raw and Raw is live from the Scottrade Centre in St. Louis, Missouri and we kick things off with the Powers Of Monday Night Raw coming out to the ring

Stephanie says in the seven years Shane's been away she's learned to be a good business partner and last night Vince McMahon put them both in charge of Raw and she has a peace offering for Shane.

Shane opens the gift and it's a photo of Vince and Shane and Stephanie says the people would love to hear his ideas but Shane says they want to hear her ideas.

Stephanie insists Shane go with his ideas. Kevin Owens interrupts and says it's nice seeing brother and sister in the ring together on Raw and it's so touching and they're arguing back and forth about ideas. He has a great idea of his own and the first decision of the night should be what is rightfully his. A rematch for the Intercontinental Title especially after last night when he decimated Sami Zayn and proved to the world he's better than Zayn. And now that that's over it's time to focus and he wants his rematch tonight

Owens says he has no hope of Shane doing the right thing but he has faith in Stephanie and says he's owed a rematch it's in his contract. Shane agrees that it's a valid point. Cesaro comes out and says Owens is talking about last night but last night he had the Intercontinental Champion tapping out. Unfortunately for him and everyone in the Cesaro Section was interrupted by the resident whiner.

Cesaro points blame at Owens and Shane says he doesn't know about how things worked in the old era but in the new era they settle things in the ring and up next it will be Cesaro vs Owens in a #1 Contenders Match for for the Intercontinental Championship

Miz runs in and attacks Cesaro resulting in the referee calling for the bell. The match turns into a triple threat and out runs Sami Zayn who goes after Owens and connects with a Helluva Kick. Maryse pulls Miz out of the ring before Zayn can deliver a Helluva Kick to him and looks down at the Intercontinental Championship. He picks it up and looks at it, raising the title above his head.

The winner of the match: None

Backstage: Stephanie is walking and Dean Ambrose is looking at her and says he doesn't buy this new Stephanie. Stephanie laughs and asks if Shane didn't give Ambrose his own talk show The Ambrose Asylum. GOLDUST (W/FANDANGO) VS TYLER BREEZE (W/R TRUTH)

Apparently this is singles, not a tag match. The crowd was so quiet that one guy shouting “Tyler Breeze, you suck!” could be heard as loud as the announcers. Truth gave Breeze a doo-rag, then Breeze walked right up to Goldust like a dolt and took a punch to the face. Goldust kept trying to impress Truth, but he no-sold Goldust. Fandango randomly walked over to Truth, then Breeze eventually rolled up Goldust for the pin and the win.

The winner of the match: Tyler Breeze

Backstage: WWE tag champions New Day walked up to wrestling artist Rob Schamberger to get a sign. They kept walking and got a p.a. to dance, then shooed him aside. The tag title situation is addressed next.

New Day come out to the ring and cut a promo on the #1 Contenders match from last night. The Vaudevillains walk out proud of what they did and say a real man would have gotten back up. The Dudleys come out.

Back from break, New Day made their way to the ring. Cole relayed that The Vaudevillains were awarded the match victory last night against Enzo Amore & Big Cass following Enzo’s injury, so it will be New Day vs. the Vaudes at Extreme Rules in three weeks. That was an anti-climatic announcement.

In the ring, Kofi Kingston wanted to get serious talking about last night’s #1 contender tournament finale. Kofi said Enzo Amore suffered a concussion last night at Payback. WWE showed a replay of Enzo being injured, then taken to the hospital last night. Back in the ring, Kofi, Big E., and Xavier Woods sold concern. Big E. said they have a tweet to accentuate the point. The tweet was Enzo posing in a hospital gown outside of the hospital. “How you doin'” chant from the crowd. “He’s okay!” Xavier shouted.

Xavier continued that when Enzo is ready to come back, New Day will be waiting for their Tag Title shot. But, as for tonight, the show goes on with the WWE tag champions keeping the positivity train rolling —

The Vaudevillians’s music interrupted to bring out Aiden English and Simon Gotch. They slowly walked down to the ring selling sadness. Aiden said this is a tough business and tough things happen. And, a real man would have gotten back up. Aiden said real men like them represent the skills and values of a bygone era. He reminded New Day that they are #1 contenders to the WWE Tag Titles (which Aiden sang).

Simon Gotch spoke that last night they made Enzo Amore the realest guy in the emergency room. “How are you doing?” Gotch asked. He said they have left zero doubt as to —

Suddenly, The Dudleys’s theme music interrupted. Bubba Ray and Devon marched out on-stage, then stopped at ringside wondering what those two carnies are talking about. Bubba said they didn’t beat anyone last night; the referee had to stop the match. All they did was stand there and twirl their mustaches.

Bubba said as far as he and Devon are concerned, they need to restart this whole tag tournament right now. New Day wasn’t sure about Bubba taking over their tournament. Devon said if anyone deserves this title shot, it’s them.

Suddenly, Enzo’s music played. Big reaction and out came Big Cass to represent Enzo and himself. From the stage, Cass said he’s tired of listening to The Vaudevillains running their mouth about taking out his family. Now, he’s going to have to finish what they started last night. Gotch was unimpressed. As for the D-d-d-d-d-dudleys, they already knocked them out of the tournament. So, there’s only one way to describe all of them – S-A-W-F-T!

Big Cass charged the ring to fight the Vaudes, then New Day fought the Dudleys. Chaos broke out in the ring as Raw faded to commercial. Eight-man tag on the other side of the break?

NEW DAY AND CASS VS THE DUDLEYS AND VAUDEVILLAINS

Simon Gotch found himself in the wrong corner taking the unicorn stampede from Big Cass and the WWE tag champs over and over. Xavier eventually warmed up his trombone to sing a tune as New Day punished Gotch. Bubba eventually tagged himself into the match, getting Gotch the heck out of the ring. Bubba smashed Xavier to the mat to allow the heels to take over the match. Bubba gave the Vaudes some instructions on how to work a match.

Devon pounded Xavier, then yelled at Aiden to do something. Aiden worked on Xavier, then tagged in Bubba to punish Xavier. Bubba lost focus wanting to go Stan Hansen on Xavier, who kicked him in the head. Tag to Kofi, who dropped Devon before hitting the Boom Drop. But, the Vaudes knocked Kofi to the floor and posted him. Kofi sold facial pain as Raw cut to break.

Back from break, the heels were working over Kofi. Gotch tagged in and yelled at him what to do. Again, is this Raw or a training session at the Performance Center? Gotch eventually wrestled Kofi into the corner and tagged in English after being yelled at by the Dudleys and told what to do by English.

The heels continued to wear down Kofi as the crowd tried to make some noise instead of sitting on their hands. Eventually, Big Cass took a tag and cleaned house. Chaos broke out, then Cass dropped Devon with the East River Crossing as the announcers sold excitement. Cass scored the pin for the win. Afterward, New Day celebrated with Cass as the heels booked it to the back.

The winners of the match: New Day and Big Cass

EMMA VS BECKY LYNCH

Emma quickly knocked Becky to the floor and posed over her international foe. Back in the ring, Emma took over. Becky came back and teased going for the Dis-arm Her, but Emma had it scouted and rolled across the ring to avoid. Becky took the bait and walked into an eye-poke. Emma then dropped Becky with a Michinoku Driver for the pin.

The winner of the match: Emma

Ambrose Asylum

Dean Ambrose walks out for Ambrose Asylum and welcomes his special guest Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie walks out and thanks Ambrose for having her and calls the set palatial. Ambrose says this whole "nice" Stephanie is not the Stephanie he knows

After last night she has to be just a boiling pot about to explode. Stephanie says she's happy. Ambrose turns attention to the Titantron and asks what words Stephanie has to describe Roman Reigns spearing her at Wrestlemania.

Stephanie says obviously she was arguing with the referee and Reigns speared her and taught her a valuable lesson. Ambrose says after 7 years, Shane returns and everyone loves Shane. He comes back and after one week he's running Raw better than The Authority ever has. Stephanie says that speaks to the loyalty of the WWE Universe

Ambrose says Stephanie's been here forever and think of all the hours of meetings and the loyalty to this company and how many birthdays she's missed. Shane never had to do that and it must be eating her up inside. Stephanie says her father taught her a valuable lesson. Ambrose has been running the Ambrose Asylum for three weeks and Shane introduced The Ambrose Asylum so Stephanie is going to cancel it

Ambrose says it's a hard lesson he thought he'd be the next Jimmy Fallon. Hosting a talk show is hard work anyways. Stephanie says she's not going to leave Raw with an empty hole and re-introduces The Highlight Reel. Chris Jericho walks out and a brawl erupts  between Ambrose and Jericho which ends with Jericho laying Ambrose out with a Codebreaker. Jericho then lays Ambrose out again by hitting him with the potted plant

Sandow is eliminated and a Brogue Kick eliminates Baron Corbin. Apollo Crews takes out Stardust. Axel and Dallas are eliminated next and all three members of League Of Nations are still in the match. Sheamus with a right hand to Zack Ryder. Del Rio and Sheamus double team Sin Cara.

Sin Cara springboards off an irish whip taking out both Sheamus and Del Rio. Ryder going after Sheamus. Ryder gets the boots up. Sheamus hits the Irish Curse backbreaker on Ryder. Del Rio lands on the apron and Sin Cara on the top rope gets shoved to the floor.

Del Rio and Sheamus both sent crashing from the apron to the floor and it's down to Rusev and Ryder and Rusev eliminates Ryder to become the #1 Contender to the US Championship

The winner of the battle royal: Rusev

WWE Women's Champion Charlotte and Ric Flair come out to the ring. Charlotte says last night Natalya pushed her to her limit but still managed to retain her championship. Charlotte talks about the "controversy" and Ric says there was no controversy. Charlotte says she'd hate for her victory to be tarnished and only one man could answer the question and calls out Charles Robinson

Charlotte thanks Robinson for coming out to the ring all she asks is for the truth. Charlotte asks Robinson if Natalya tapped. Robinson says not physically but she was screaming "Stop It!!"  Charlotte says Robinson's relationship with Flair has nothing to do with his decision and Robinson says absolutely not

One final question, Charlotte asks as the referee of their match if his decision is final and Robinson says yes it is. Natalya walks out and says this is not about Charles Robinson or Charlotte. It's about Ric Flair. Last night, he paid a referee to screw her out of winning the women's championship and with all this classy talk and garbage coming out of his mouth, everyone knows the truth. The Harts are the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. A brawl erupts between Natalya and Charlotte and Natalya sends Charlotte to the outside. Ric takes off his jacket and Natalya nails Flair and locks him in the sharpshooter before Charlotte can pull Ric to safety.

-Commercial-

Backstage: Ric and Charlotte are walking and Flair is holding his jaw and Stephanie asks what happened to him. That was embarassing and says the Figure Eight is way better than the sharpshooter and Charlotte will get to use the figure eight again in a rematch with Natalya at Extreme Rules in a submission match. However, Ric is banned from ringside.
