WWE.com has announced the passing of ECW Legend Axl Rotten in a brief statement released on their website Thursday evening:
"WWE is saddened to learn of reports that Brian Knighton, best known for competing in ECW as Axl Rotten from 1993 to 1999, has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Knighton’s family, friends and fans."
Rotten was found dead today in a motel in Baltimore, Maryland, it is believed he died in the last 11 hours as he posted his last tweet on Wednesday evening. He also posted a number of deep Facebook posts which can be seen below.
In recent years, Rotten suffered from a spine injury that forced him out of the ring into a wheelchair. He also suffered from Bells Palsy, the same medical condition as Jim Ross.
The way I do things may not be the way you do things but you will find out there is only 1 way. My away! #AxlsTruth
