WNS Video: Wilds' War Cry: Cages and Bunny Superkicks

Due to some computer issues, this week’s Wilds’ War Cry will revert back to its column form, which I understand will make some of you briefly happy. Glad I could help. I apologize if this column is a bit cranky, I miss my computer dearly.

Wrestling had a decent week.

I started off by watching Smackdown and listening to Cena’s promo. I only really remember him saying: “Mr. Plan B, why don’t you kiss my plan A. The grown-ups are talking.” It made me chuckle and led to the five on five main event match, and Triple H’s mediocre Teddy Long impersonation. Actually, that joke fell really flat when I remembered that Long was unceremoniously let go recently, but I am not sure if it was in bad taster or that was just my love of a true playa. The final match was by the numbers and expected, but overall capped off an enjoyable episode of the Raw Recap show.

TNA Impact was a packed show this week with several good shining moments. Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell have wonderful in-ring chemistry together and make their sweet science look pretty painful. In case someone has forgotten, Gail Kim is tougher than you, but did anyone like what Havok did? It is too early to tell honestly, but I was not bored during the Knockouts segments. I say segments because I am counting the Beautiful People and BroMans possible stable formation. I support this idea, could have some solid potential if done right.

Bobby Roode versus Eric Young was a very good match put on by two mat technicians and expert entertainers who seem to be at the height of their game. MVP’s attempted interference worked and the match was a successful build that did not make either man look too weak. A part of me wants Roode to win now. Someone said not too long ago that no one covers TNA enough, and I call bullshit. I love talking about the company when they do stuff right, and they put on a good show this week. Impact also had an entire episode of multiple face against face matches, and none of them ended with hokey betrayals. I think that deserves a slow clap for something you do not see often in modern wrestling. Also, while we are on it, a lot of people I see that are still hating on TNA probably have not given it a fair chance recently.

Raw felt good this week, really good, but that is probably because the past two weeks were just lazy and boring. It is the season premier though, and you have to start off strong, so bring on Jericho and a cage match, put him up against Bray Wyatt to keep this feud going a little bit longer. Do whatever you want, because this turned out great! I loved this as an opening bout. Jericho diving off the cage, imitating his hero, Jimmy Snuka, looked amazing, and the finish to the match was not bad at all. This was followed up by a segment I thought was going to be a momentum killer, but I found myself enjoying the Miz and Dolph Ziggler doing their thing.

I hope Natalya really is working with Rosa Mendes on her wrestling, because she needs it. That match was easily forgotten, though with more AJ and Paige fierce flirting, and Paige versus Gail Kim is now a dream match of mine. This is followed up by what could be mistaken for John Cena and Paul Heyman aggressively flirting, but it was in reality just an enjoyable promo and setup for next week’s confrontation. It got me excited for Sheamus vs Seth Rollins, and though I am not a fan of Rollin’s new shirt, he looked good against Sheamus, and Cesaro’s interference went over well. I have no doubt that Cesaro will lose, but I am enjoying the idea that it could actually happen.

Is it done now? Can I stop yelling from the top of my lungs for everyone to watch NXT? Have we arrived? The boys from NXT came out and showed off some amazing skills to hype up this week’s PPV. The match was incredibly fun and the build-up to that hot tag was exciting. I think all of them did an amazing job, but Adrian Neville stood out to me as one of the hottest talents on the roster currently. On a side note, does anyone like Tyson Kidd in that yellow? Was it just me or did that look odd?

I am glad that went well and got the blood pumping, because I nearly fell asleep during the Jerry Springer and Bellas segment. I’ll pay someone to make that not happen again. The Dust Brothers—as I shall now call them—put on a decent show and they almost had something there with the attack from the Usos at the end. Did I just see a bunny superkick Heath Slater? No matter, the last segment was made almost entirely of win. Reigns and Orton both looked good, Seth almost ended his career early, and Kane really sold that chair shot. It was also neat to see the bad guys on top again at the end, and though I am not fully clear what is happening next, I like it. Raw destroyed with the cage opener and closer, so let us all hope they keep up the good work heading towards Night of Champions.
