Smackdown this week comes to us from Greensboro, North Carolina and we kick things off with Daniel Bryan coming out to the ring.  Bryan says he didn’t think he’d ever end up spending nine months with the devil’s favourite demon but that doesn’t change the fact that Team Hell No is one of the best tag teams in WWE history and calls Kane out to the ring. Kane says je knows why Bryan’s called him out but this not the time nor the place and he’s only interested in their six man tag team match tonight. Bryan says the last nine months have been an incredible ride and he’s proud of what they’ve done both in and out of the ring to become better partners. But at Payback, Kane won’t be his partner and when Bryan wins he’s going to be tag team champions with someone else and he and Kane won’t be teaming anymore. Kane asks if Bryan is breaking up with him and says Bryan should know the same thing would happen if he wins the US Title from Dean Ambrose. Bryan says he supposes they could team if  Kane wins the US Title. The thing Kane doesn’t understand is he and Orton are going to be the tag team champions and it’s going to be Team RKNO. Kane doesn’t understand how Bryan thinks he can beat The Shield when he and Kane couldn’t beat The Shield and the second thing is Bryan despises Randy Orton. Kane says personally he doesn’t think Bryan can beat The Shield and Bryan begins accusing Kane of thinking he’s the weak link. Bryan said last week he and Orton had The Shield beat  and at Payback he will beat The Shield again and prove he’s not the weak link and Kane will have to sit back and know that Bryan and Orton did something he and Kane could never do which could only mean that Kane is the weak link. Orton comes out to break up the argument and understands why he’d like to chokeslam  Daniel Bryan and wouldn’t mind watching but says he needs Bryan at 100% for Sunday and whatever Kane does to Bryan affects Orton. Orton says if Kane chokeslams Bryan then Orton will RKO Kane. Bryan says he didn’t ask for Orton’s help. Orton, Kane and Bryan continue arguing and The Shield appear on the screen and say it’s funny watching them and compares it to a car wreck and they’re not mad at each other they’re really mad at The Shield because The Shield is unstoppable, unbeatable and untouchable and there’s no reason to argue because tonight is going to be like any other night The Shield are going to win because they run the yard.

Sheamus vs Antonio Cesaro

Uppercut by Cesaro. Cesaro slaps Sheamus around and Sheamus fires out of the corner as Cesaro retreats to the outside. Sheamus unloads on Cesaro delivering a clothesline and a kneelift. Another uppercut by Cesaro. Powerslam by Sheamus and an elbow to the back of the neck.  Suplex by Sheamus countered by Cesaro. Cesaro with a takedown and float over picking Sheamus up for a gutwrench. Clothesline sends Sheamus over the ropes to the outside. Cesaro off the apron, caught by Sheamus and Sheamus delivers a fallaway slam into the barricade

Back bodydrop by Sheamus. Series of axehandles and shoulder tackle to Cesaro. Cesaro with a clothesline and double stomp. High Knee by Sheamus. Sheamus with the Fiery Red Hand on Cesaro. Another Irish Curse backbreaker by Sheamus. Cesaro counters White Noise. Uppercut to the back of the head by Cesaro. Overhead slam by Cesaro and Sheamus hits a Brogue Kick out of the corner for the three count

Backstage: Teddy Long is on the phone and Dolph Ziggler, AJ and Big E Langston walk in and Ziggler says it’s been a month since Ziggler has graced Smackdown and Long congratulates him on his return. Ziggler says he is days away from defending his title and must be hearing things because he’s going to be competing tonight but tells Long tonight is just a taste of what he’s going to do to Alberto Del Rio at Payback

Great Khali vs Heath Slater

Khali overpowers Slater. Slater slaps Khali and Khali chops him down. Chop in the corner by Khali. Slater with a kick turning things around. Shoulder tackle in the corner by Slater.  Khali with the big boot.  Khali chops Slater down.  Mahal and McIntyre pushing Hornswoggle around. Khali with the chop to Mahal. Khali turns around and Slater hits a DDT for the three count

Backstage: Jericho says this Sunday at Payback the match between CM Punk and Chris Jericho is one of those rare matches that has taken on a life of its own almost because as much of the people watching the match as the two participants. CM Punk is the hometown hero but Jericho’s no stranger to Chicago. Chicago is where he made his debut against The Rock and it doesn’t matter whether the crowd is 100% behind him, 100% behind CM Punk or whether it’s 50/50. Jericho says this match will exceed the expectations of the first two matches he and Punk had on pay per view. You are not going to want to miss Punk-Jericho 3. Paul Heyman then walks in and says extends his hand to Jericho wishing him luck. Heyman says Jericho is going to need luck because Chicago is CM Punk’s hometown and besides Punk will have Heyman in his corner and Heyman will have the best seat in the house.  Jericho then hits Heyman in the mouth with the mic.

Aksana vs Kaitlyn

We see the revelation of Kaitlyn’s secret admirer from Monday and Aksana begins to laugh and Kaitlyn lunges at her. A brawl ensues and Aksana escapes to the outside but the brawl continues. Aksana back in the ring and Kaitlyn with a double leg takedown. The referee tries to break it up but Kaitlyn slaps him as Aksana runs up theramp to the back.

Curtis Axel vs Wade Barrett

Barrett grabs the mic and asks to chat with Paul Heyman and asks Heyman why they should have this match tonight. He could very easily beat Axel but then Axel wouldn’t be able to compete for the Intercontinental Championship on Sunday. Miz then comes out and says the crowd wants to see Axel and Barrett fight.

Knee by Axel and Axel stomping and punching away at Barrett. Barrett with knee strikes and a clothesline. Dropkick by Axel. Kick by Barrett sends Axel to the outside. Axel looking to clothesline Barrett. Barrett ducks and Axel clotheslines Miz. Axel hits The Perfect Twist for the three count

Rollins unloads on Bryan. Clothesline by Bryan. Bryan with a snapmare and Kane with the dropkick. Suplex to Rollins. Headbutt by Ambrose, Kane with a right hand. Orton stomps away at Ambrose. Series of headbutts to Ambrose and a clothesline. Orton with a suplex. Shield isolate Bryan. Suplex by Reigns.  Elbow drop by Ambrose on Bryan. Gut stomp by Ambrose and submission hold locked on Ambrose.  Inverted headlock by Ambrose and Bryan fights out of it. Orton with a series of clotheslines and powerslams. Orton sets up for the draping DDT but The Shield counters.

Chinlock by Ambrose and a clothesline to Orton. And now The Shield keeping Orton isolated.Orton  fights back with punches and Reigns with a kick. Orton hits a backbreaker on Reigns. Reigns charges and hits the ring post with his shoulder. Kane unloads with a series of clotheslines on Ambrose. Powerslam to Ambrose. Clotheslines in the corner. Kane with the sidewalk slam. Kane goes to the top rope and misses with the flying clothesline.  Dropkick by Ambrose. Missile dropkick by Bryan from the top rope. Rollins gets caught with a dropkick. Reigns gets hit with a dropkick. Suicide dive to the outside takes out The Shield. Dropkicks to Rollins in the corner. Bryan with a series of kicks to Rollins. A kick to Reigns and Ambrose. Bryan going to the top rope. Reigns crawling into the ring as Ambrose tries to cut Bryan off. Bryan misses with the flying headbutt.  Kane grabs Ambrose by the throat and dumps him over the top rope.Reigns with a clothesline takes Kane out. Reigns counters and RKO and hits a spear. Kane chokeslams Ambrose and Rollins into the timekeeper’s area. Rollins with a powerbomb to Bryan in the corner. Rollins to the top rope cut off by Kane, Rollins gets hit with an RKO and Bryan locks in the Yes Lock for the tap out
