The plan for the WWE Suvivor Series main event was the cause of a lot of tension and turmoil in the days leading up to the event. The original plan backed by Vince McMahon was for CM Punk to retain the WWE Championship until January's Royal Rumble. The Rock would then return and win the Championship and carry it going into WrestleMania 29. Others in the company wanted Punk to drop the belt at Survivor Series however as seen last night creative stuck by the original plan.Â
Some were also worried about Ryback not being protected enough during the match and coming off weak by not winning the belt however, the plan as executed last night was for the debut of Seth Rollins/Dean Ambrose/Roman Reigns to attack Ryback as a way of "protecting" Ryback.Â
The plan going forward (although not confirmed) is for Cena/Punk/Ryback to have a rematch at December's TLC Pay-Per-View. The Rock is almost a lock on carrying the WWE Championship going into WrestleMania 29.
