Four Huge Wrestling Names Heading to Scotland

Posted By: Ben Kerin of WrestlingNewsSource.com on Feb 26, 2012

Press Release:

When you think of professional wrestling in the UK, you automatically think of the days of Giant Haystacks, Big Daddy and Mick MacManus on ITV's World of Sports. However, today there is a promotion in Scotland which combines the honour and sportsmanship of those World of Sports days along with the showmanship and large scale of the well known WWE and TNA American promotions. That promotion is Blairgowrie based Scottish Wrestling Entertainment (SWE) and on August 25th 2012, The Dewars Centre in Perth will play host to the 9th annual Hell For Lycra, SWE's annual extravaganza. Along with the best in independent wrestling talent from over Europe, Hell for Lycra IX will also play host to some of the biggest names in the wrestling world today. "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase - In 2009, Hell For Lycra VI was held at the Perth Concert Hall where the WWE legend first appeared in the SWE ring. Since then, he has become a regular star at Hell For Lycra and in 2010, just months before Hell For Lycra VIII at Dundee University's Bonar Hall, "The Million Dollar Man" bought SWE and has been proud to call the promotion his ever since. Also in 2010, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase, was inducted in the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall Of Fame. "The Native American Warrior" Tatanka - Tatanka made his Hell For Lycra debut at the Bonar Hall in Dundee last year becoming an instant hit with the fans. He was so impressed with the event, he asked for the chance to return to Tayside to do it all over again.

"The Mexican Warrior" Chavo Guerrero - When you think of big names in professional wrestling, they don't get much bigger than the legendary Guerrero family. Chavo Guerrero Jr spent 10 years in WWE becoming a Cruiserweight Champion, ECW Champion and multi time Tag Team Champion with his uncle, the late great Eddie Guerrero. Chavo has most recently spent time in India for TNA's RingKaKing production - winning the Tag Team championship alongside Harry Smith, the son of The British Bulldog. Chavo's appearance in Scotland is sure to excite wrestling fans throughout the country, the question is - Who will step up to face him? "The Hot Rod" Rowdy Roddy Piper - The man who headlined WWE's very first Wrestlemania, The host of the renowned Piper's Pit, The 2005 WWE Hall Of Fame Inductee and one of the most controversial names in pro-wrestling - long before Stone Cold Steve Austin - The Hotrod makes his Scottish Homecoming at long last. Born in Canada but with a family line in West Scotland, Piper has embraced his roots with the sound of pipes and drums hailing him to the ring and is a champion player himself. What will happen when Piper hits Perth?

Scottish Wrestling Entertainment promoter - David Low - said "Our very first Hell For Lycra took place in Blairgowrie Town Hall and back then we had no idea just how big this event could become. To now be working with some of the biggest names this sport has ever seen is just a dream come true. I used to watch the likes of Ted Dibiase and Rowdy Roddy Piper every week on television and now here they are wanting to work with me to put on a great show for the Scottish fans. Our reputation has also grown so much, I'm getting phone calls from WWE legends just asking if they can be part of our show. This year's event promises to be the best yet. The last two years, we have held the event in the Bonar Hall in Dundee and pack the place out. As the company and show has grown, it has left us searching for a new venue. The good news is that the Dewars Centre contacted us asking if we could put on an event there and once we visited the venue, we knew it was perfect for Hell For Lycra. The thought of having 1500 wrestling mad fans in there gives me goose bumps. We are hoping the event will be a complete sell out. We already have massive plans for the next year's event which will be the tenth anniversary of Hell For Lycra" SWE presents Hell For Lycra IX
